"From Peacemaker to Warrior Saint: The Transformation on the Island of Cyprus" - The New Testament presents Barnabas, a native of Cyrpus, as an innovative peacemaker who developed compromise solutions in churches experiencing ethnic strife. Michael R. Cosby, Prof. of New Testament & Greek at Messiah College, spent 4 months in Cyprus as a senior Fulbright Fellow, exploring ancient texts and interviewing Cypriots. He discovered that Barnabas has been recreated as a symbol of Greek Cypriot nationalism during a long history of political intrique - a fascinating story unknown to Cypriots. His absorbing lecture will include photographs of Cyprus and a time for audience interaction.
